Megatron does Bean Town
David Kaye, voice of Transformers ‘Megatron’ and Inuyasha’s ‘Sesshomaru’ to appear at Anime Boston 2005
VANCOUVER April 18, 2005 For three days this spring, April 29th through May 1st, Anime Fanatics will descend on the Hynes Convention Centre in downtown Boston to take part in what is becoming the most enthusiastically attended event of it’s kind, Anime Boston 2005. The fans of this phenomenon will be hoping to see, touch and hear all of their favorite Anime characters and those elusive people that create the voices behind each of the characters. One of the top draws this year at Anime Boston 2005 will be David Kaye, the voice of SESSHOMARU from the immensely popular “Inuyasha” series.
David Kaye will be one of the Guests of Honor this year at Anime Boston 2005 and will be signing autographs, speaking at panel lectures and generally delighting the many fans that know him as Sesshomaru and many other characters, including those in two new anime television series, Human Crossing and Tokyo Underground. In the latter of his newest series, Kaye plays the main “bad guy” (“I’m getting type-cast,” he jokes) ‘Pairon’.
A man of many voices, Kaye has lent his vocal chords to a multitude of characters including GENERAL HAWK of G.I. Joe Extreme, TREIZE on Gundham Wing, SOUN on Ranma 1/2 and the infamous MEGATRON on the many incarnations of the Transformers series. Fast-forward now through over a hundred characters to his most recent ones and you get CRONUS, ultra bad guy in CLASS OF THE TITANS and the voice of PROFESSOR XAVIER on WB Kid's animated X-Men Evolution series. Perhaps one of David Kaye’s most impressive and important pieces of voice work comes in the form of his character ‘Lear’ in the animated graphic novel Broken Saints. The 2003 Audience Award Winner at the Sundance Online Film Festival was launched exclusively online in January 2001 to resounding critical acclaim, and is now available in a spectacular 4-DVD set online and in Best Buy/Future Shop stories in Canada as of May 10th, with store distribution in the United States coming soon.
Then there’s MAJOR POWERS a Hasbro toy accompanied by a series of made-for-DVD cartoons and five movies for Mattel/Mainframe as the voice of DIESEL ‘PORK CHOP’ RIGGS in “Hot Wheels”. Recently, David Kaye appeared on-camera in a Guest Starring role on the popular USA Cable Entertainment/SCI-FI Channel Battlestar Galactica playing the character ‘James McManus’ in the episode “Colonial Day”.
David Kaye can also be found in recent Video games...including the voice of CLANK from Insomniac Games’ ‘Ratchet & Clank’ (I, II, III and soon IV), as well as ‘Doom 3’, ‘Pitfall Harry’, ‘The Hulk’ and ‘Splinter Cell 2: Pandora’s Box’.
Next up, Kaye will again be voicing MEGATRON for the new Transformer’s series, “Cybertron” as well as a new animation series from Warner Brothers in which he plays the main character’s pet using a language that Kaye made up on his own, and a voice that is a cross between a pug and a troll! Finally, David Kaye is very excited to have landed his first feature film work in his career: The role has arrived in the form of a Universal Studio production, Ant Bully. The movie, which has Tom Hanks as its Executive Producer, is currently in production with no set release date as-of-yet.
With over 4400 attendees at Anime Boston 2004 the event is sure to be a hit. And for those fans lucky enough to get a ticket this year, David Kaye will be there to greet them.
